Microsoft introduces Copilot Home, Code and Autopilot

Microsoft is reorganizing Copilot around Home, Code and Autopilot. The three experiences cover conversational work, building solutions and a persistent agent, with different rollout stages.

Three purposes, three availability questions

The Copilot announcement brings Chat and Cowork together in Home and introduces Office in Copilot for editable Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Code is powered by the underlying technology used in GitHub Copilot.

Microsoft presented a new Copilot structure spanning Home, Code and Autopilot. Home and Code follow a Frontier rollout, while Autopilot expands through private preview, making the three experiences different in both purpose and current availability.

Home and Code are set to start rolling out through the Frontier program in the following weeks. Autopilot, described as a personal agent that continues working, expands through private preview. The announcement also includes FinOps capabilities for managing AI spend. A named experience in the release is not necessarily accessible to every tenant immediately.
