Claude Haiku 5.5 targets high-volume tasks

Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 targets quick, repeated work such as classification, summaries and database queries. It gives the Claude 5.5 family a smaller option for applications where response time and volume matter.

Smaller tasks get an effort control

The Haiku 5.5 release describes live customer support, browser work and coding subagents among its intended uses. It is also the first Haiku-class model with an adjustable effort setting, allowing developers to trade more processing for capability.

Anthropic introduced Claude Haiku 5.5 for lower cost, high volume work such as classification, summaries and live assistance. The release extends the Claude 5.5 family; suitability still depends on the accuracy and latency your task needs.

Anthropic reports lower running costs and stronger benchmark results than the previous Haiku release. Those are the company’s evaluations and customer accounts. They do not tell a team how often the model will extract a field correctly from its own invoices or when a support reply needs escalation.
